Doing church simply so that we can simply serve

Pastor

Doug Burford was a Presbyterian pastor for eighteen years, the last eleven as pastor of the Ward Parkway Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, Missouri.  At the start of 2008, he was given the opportunity to pursue his passion for the “simple church” . . . church done simply so that people could simply serve God and each other without buildings, bulletins, etc.  This simplicity allows Doug to serve as a pastor who is a spiritual director. A spiritual director "helps people hear God, understand what they have heard, and act on what they have understood.”

Doug is now ordained with the Christian & Missionary Alliance (C&MA) and licensed as a church planter. The C&MA is a missional denomination with over 20,000 congregations worldwide, 2,000 of them in the United States.  To learn more, visit the  Alliance web site.

Dr. Burford's Master of Divinity is from Princeton Theological Seminary, his Doctor of Ministry from Talbot School of Theology, and his Certificate in Spiritual Direction is from The Leadership Institute in Orange, CA.

Doug has been gratefully and happily married for over twenty-six years, has three terrific kids and one terrific son-in-law.
