Doing church simply so that we can simply serve

Pastor

Doug Burford was a Presbyterian pastor for eighteen years, the last eleven as pastor of the Ward Parkway Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, Missouri.  At the start of 2008, he was given the opportunity to pursue his passion for the “simple church” . . . church done simply so that people could simply serve God and each other without buildings, bulletins, etc.  This simplicity allows Doug to serve as a pastor who is a spiritual director. A spiritual director "helps people hear God, understand what they have heard and act on what they have understood.”

Doug is now ordained with the Christian & Missionary Alliance (C&MA) and licensed as a church planter. The C&MA is a missional denomination with over 22,000  congregations worldwide, 2,000 of them in the United States.   To learn more, visit the  Alliance web site.

Dr. Burford has a Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, a Doctor of Ministry degree from Talbot School of Theology, and a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from The Leadership Institute in Orange, CA.

Doug has been gratefully and happily married for over twenty-five years and has three terrific kids and one terrific son-in-law.
